Final Fantasy VII Revelation: The TGS Hands-On Changes Vincent, Cid and Combat

PlayStation’s September 17, 2026 hands-on is the first detailed official report from the Tokyo Game Show demo. The event build sends Cloud and an eight-member party into the Whirlwind Maze and lets players test Vincent, Cid and the new FITS System.

This is not a publicly downloadable demo, but a TGS build for media and show attendees. Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches April 8, 2027 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Xbox, Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The Whirlwind Maze Becomes a Testing Ground

Cid joins Cloud and the others at the beginning, bringing the party to eight members. The route mixes narrow cliff traversal, ledge vaulting and parkour while black-robed figures move through wind, darkness and aurora-like light.

The area showcases exploration, combat and atmosphere without turning the hands-on into a purely narrative presentation. Sephiroth is the destination, but the demo’s real purpose is to explain how the new playable characters work.

Vincent Switches Between Gunplay and Monster Form

Vincent attacks at range without requiring manual aiming. Consecutive shots evolve his unique abilities from Blood Moon to Execration and finally Retribution, increasing their power with the hit count.

Holding R1 transforms him into a fast creature that runs on all fours and attacks with claws. Monster form has no hard timer, but the Chaos level rises and reduces Vincent’s maximum HP, giving the stronger state a meaningful cost.

Cid Builds Spear Combos in the Air

Cid specializes in aerial combat. Standard attacks can branch at the moment a blue aura appears, leading into moves such as Dragon Spin, Hyper Dive and Ground Pound.

Target Spear can be charged to launch up to five spears. Enemies pinned by them strengthen abilities including Skydive and Burst Spiral, making Cid a mobile fighter built for groups and range control.

FITS Adds Four Tactical Roles

Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear offers four configurations: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner. Each uniform unlocks different abilities, suggesting that FITS can reshape a character’s role before and during combat.

In the TGS build, Cloud uses the Summoner FITS to call Ifrit, Shiva, Titan and other summons for a limited time. While one remains active, he can trigger Pledge Roar, a high-damage move that consumes HP.

Jenova Death Closes the Demonstration

The final encounter pits the party against Jenova Death. Tentacles protect the main body until they are destroyed and later spread fire across large areas. Dodging, guarding, Synergy Abilities and Limit Breaks all become necessary.

The hands-on defines the final chapter’s direction: more distinct playable characters, roles reconfigured through FITS and bosses that force the party to change priorities. Platform-specific performance and any public demo remain unconfirmed.
