SEKIRO: NO DEFEAT Becomes an Eight-Episode TV Series
The September 25 announcement defines the final format of SEKIRO: NO DEFEAT. Following its Japanese theatrical edit, the project will return in January 2027 as a complete eight-episode television series.

From theaters to television: what changes
The production team clarified that the project originally began as an eight-episode series. The theatrical edit was released first to showcase its visuals and sound on the big screen. The TV version will rebuild the same story with many new scenes, cuts and additional episode material not included in the film.

A staff built around hand-drawn animation
Kenichi Kutsuna directs, Takuya Sato handles series composition and Takahiro Kishida designs the characters. Qzil.la produces the animation, ARCH produces the project and KADOKAWA is involved. The adaptation is presented as fully hand-drawn 2D animation.

The game’s cast returns
Daisuke Namikawa returns as Wolf, Miyuki Sato voices Kuro and Kenjiro Tsuda reprises Genichiro Ashina. The staff also includes assistant director Shunsuke Fukui, action animation director Takashi Mukoda and composer Shuta Hasunuma.

Release and streaming: what is confirmed
Japan is confirmed for January 2027, with eight episodes in total. The official site has not announced an exact premiere day or broadcast network. Earlier international information named Crunchyroll for many territories outside Japan, but the TV version’s regional availability, languages and European schedule still require confirmation.
