Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Part 2 Teaser Begins the First Royal Outing
The palace is no longer large enough to contain the intrigue surrounding Reirin and Keigetsu. On October 23, 2026, the official Though I Am an Inept Villainess website released the teaser for the second cour, confirming a January 2027 return with the “First Royal Outing” arc.
The video moves the story to the southern territory ruled by the Shu clan and establishes the new stakes immediately: an interrupted ritual, Keigetsu’s magic spinning out of control, another body swap and Reirin’s abduction. It is more than a mood piece; it lays out the conflict that will drive the second half.
The First Royal Outing moves the power struggle
With the curse-related disturbances in the inner court settled, Reirin and Keigetsu have begun to understand one another. At the start of autumn, the Harvest Festival is assigned to the southern lands of the Shu clan. Keigetsu must organize it without a consort serving as her guardian, while Reirin approaches her first official journey with characteristic enthusiasm.

Their arrival in the south breaks that fragile balance. An incident interrupts the ritual, Keigetsu loses control of her spell and the two swap bodies again. In the confusion, Reirin — now in the other girl’s body — is abducted. The series is not simply resetting its central device: the girls now understand each other’s weaknesses and motives, and that trust makes the new swap more dangerous.

Two overprotective brothers step into the story
The new arc directly involves Kou Keikou and Kou Keishou, Reirin’s older brothers. Keikou is voiced by Yuichi Nakamura and Keishou by Shunichi Toki. Their sister’s abduction pulls them into a conspiracy designed to frame Keigetsu and exploit the swapped identities once again.

A new mastermind behind the Harvest Festival
The official synopsis asks the decisive question: who is trying to frame Keigetsu? The teaser keeps the antagonist’s identity hidden, but the Shu clan setting and the sabotage of the ritual connect the mystery to local politics. Unran, voiced by Chiaki Kobayashi, is among the new faces highlighted for this stage of the story.

Returning staff and worldwide streaming
Mitsue Yamasaki returns as director, Sumie Noro is subdirector, Yoshiko Nakamura handles series composition and Ai Kikuchi provides the character designs. Yukari Hashimoto composes the music, while Doga Kobo remains the animation studio. Manaka Iwami and Natsumi Kawaida return as Reirin and Keigetsu.
The international portal lists January 2027 for the second cour and confirms worldwide distribution. Crunchyroll and Disney+ are listed for Europe, although availability of the new cour may vary by territory and local catalog. An exact premiere date has not yet been announced.
Why this teaser matters
The second half does not merely repeat the body swap; it deploys it after the protagonists have built genuine trust. Reirin’s abduction and the attempt to frame Keigetsu turn the familiar device into a political and emotional stress test. The teaser promises a wider arc, a new setting and a family whose intervention could complicate both the rescue and the search for the culprit.
