KAIJU DECODE: New Teaser Introduces Maru and Coco for 2027
On October 18, 2026, KAIJU DECODE: The Ring of Aidara took its clearest step toward release yet. The official website published a new teaser assembled from film footage and let audiences hear Maru and Coco for the first time. The release remains set only for 2027; an exact date, runtime and international distribution plan have not been announced.

A teaser sets Aidara’s world in motion
The new footage introduces a future where physical and virtual reality coexist. Maru lives in the City and hunts kaiju to make a living. Coco belongs to the Aidara people, works as a kaiju tamer and believes humans and monsters can share the same world. Their opposing experiences are more than a visual contrast: different answers to coexistence appear poised to drive the film’s central conflict.
The teaser moves between urban environments, immersive technology and enormous creatures. Its scale promises kaiju action, but the relationship between the two leads stays at the center. Aya Yamane voices Maru, while Karin Takahashi plays Coco.

Maru and Coco offer two answers to the kaiju
Maru is described as lively, mischievous and protective. He lives in the City and hunts kaiju alongside a figure known as Aniki to survive. Coco is an Aidara kaiju tamer: calm in action, curious by nature and committed to living with the creatures. The new visual shows her reaching out to the kaiju Giira, turning that trust into the defining image of her character.

Confirmed staff and production
The project is a collaboration between Tsuburaya Productions and Toei Animation. S/N directs, with Katsuhie Shibata writing the screenplay. Sei Nakashima and Masatsugu Saito are credited with character design, while Tsuburaya Productions’ Masayuki Goto handles kaiju design. Animation production is shared by Arect and Toei Animation, with Toei Animation also listed as producer.
Those credits matter for a property built as a transmedia experiment. KAIJU DECODE has already explored its setting through a CG short, a virtual-reality production and a mixed-reality experience. The Ring of Aidara aims to turn that material into a feature-length story where technological progress, survival and coexistence shape the characters rather than merely decorate the world.

What is confirmed — and what remains unannounced
Only the 2027 window is official at this stage; no month or specific day has been given. International streaming services, theatrical territories outside Japan and European dubs have not been announced either. What is confirmed is the main cast, the core creative team, the animation studios and a story designed to blend kaiju action with the personal journeys of Maru and Coco.
