Nike JA 4 Launches Today: The “Nightmare” Brings Basketball Into Streetwear

Today, August 13, 2026, Nike officially launches the JA 4 worldwide, the fourth signature shoe for Ja Morant. The release sits between performance basketball and sneaker culture: the debut “Nightmare” colorway turns the idea of an impossible-to-contain player into a visual identity, while the construction changes in meaningful ways from the JA 3.

What really changes in the JA 4

Nike confirms a new TPU JA-Frame structure that wraps the foot during cuts and changes of direction, a Cushlon 3.0 midsole and a supercritical-foam SPRPWR sockliner. The traction pattern has been redesigned for quick movement, while foam side ridges add protection and durability.

For streetwear fans, the visual language is just as important. The vertical Swoosh becomes part of the functional frame, while the JA logo and references to Morant’s former jersey number connect back to Twelve Time Basketball. Nike has indicated five JA 4 colorways in total, with Nightmare leading the first drop.

Global release: the official date is today

Nike’s official communication lists global availability from August 13 through Nike.com and selected retailers. Some editorial Nike pages still contain an internal reference to August 15, but the release section and Nike Newsroom information converge on August 13, which is the date we treat as confirmed.

From the court to everyday rotation

The JA 4 is not a traditional fashion collaboration, but it is one of the more notable sneaker drops of the moment because it introduces a completely new silhouette and immediately gives it a strong graphic identity. Nike has built Morant’s line around expressive colorways and personal details, which makes the shoe legible well beyond the basketball court.
