Once Human: Isles of Abyss Is Live — Living Ocean, Ships and Cross-Play

Once Human opens its most ambitious maritime chapter on October 22, 2026. Isles of Abyss is a free expansion for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and mobile, following maintenance that began on October 21 Pacific Time. The sea is not empty space between coastlines, but a living environment that reshapes routes, combat and survival.

A reactive ocean, not just a new map

The main scenario is PvE and spans five ocean regions. Haywire Zones introduce Mist of Deceit, Black Tide, Time Rain and Skyfire, phenomena that alter visibility, movement and crew safety. Behind that instability is the Sunken Lord, the presence that turns the ocean itself into an active part of the story.

Five regions extend exploration from land to sea.

The clearest new system is the mobile sea fortress. Players build hulls, decks, modules and propulsion, then turn their base into transport and a combat platform. Fleets can coordinate, install cannons and use automatic cruising without giving up the practical functions of home.

The base becomes a ship

Building no longer means committing to one fixed point on the map. A ship must withstand weather, creatures and naval fights, while marine materials and ocean technologies open a dedicated progression branch. A well-equipped base is shelter, workshop and assault platform at once.

Progression changes below the surface

Isles of Abyss adds full diving, submerged ruins, seabed resource gathering and creatures designed for underwater combat. Progression links land and sea: discoveries from the depths improve the ship, and a stronger ship makes otherwise isolated high-risk areas reachable.

Resources, ruins and new threats wait below the surface.

On PS5, the expansion uses haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to distinguish weapons, water pressure and navigation, while the SSD reduces transitions between shore, open water and submerged zones. Cross-play and shared progression keep PC, console and mobile players in one ecosystem.

Dates, phases and platforms

The scenario's core cycle lasts about 21 days across two phases. A permanent server is expected from November 12 Pacific Time; the studio presents that as an expected timetable rather than a separate European date. The main experience remains PvE, with RaidZone continuing as the separate PvP offering.

  • Global launch: October 22, 2026, after maintenance beginning October 21 PT.

  • Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and mobile.

  • Permanent server expected November 12 PT; main scenario focused on PvE.

In short: a global October 22 launch, a free expansion, five regions, modular shipbuilding and amphibious progression. It changes the game's most important verb from simply exploring to navigating.
