Promise Me the Spotlight: 『ユイカ』 Will Perform the Anime Opening
On September 21, 2026, the official Promise Me the Spotlight website revealed the adaptation's first music detail: 『ユイカ』 will perform the opening theme “Nanimono demo nakatta Watashi dakara,” roughly “Because I Was No One.” The update arrives less than three months after the television anime was announced.
An opening built around Mizuki's point of view
The song title directly echoes Mizuki Natsuno's position: she is the least popular member of idol group Melty Strawberry and remains far from center stage. The announcement contains no audio preview, release date or record-label information. For now, only the performer and official song title are confirmed.
From last place to center stage
The story comes from Jun Wakatsuki's manga. Koichi Okuta is the only fan who continues to support Mizuki. When the two begin living under the same roof, they form a pact: he will help her become the group's center, and she will take seriously the promise made to her supporter. The premise combines romantic comedy, family life and the mechanics of the idol industry.
Six volumes and a move to Magazine Pocket
The manga began in Kodansha's Shonen Magazine Edge in 2022. After the magazine closed, it continued on Magazine Pocket; the official anime site displays the first six published volumes. The television adaptation was announced on July 8, 2026, while the opening-theme reveal is its first substantial follow-up.
Studio, staff and release window remain unannounced
As of September 22, the official website lists no animation studio, director, series composer, character designer, cast, broadcasters, streaming platforms or release window. The format and episode count are also unknown. Any date circulating without a production-committee announcement should therefore be treated as unconfirmed.
Why the announcement matters
Making music the first major update after the adaptation reveal suggests that sound will play an important role in the series' identity. That is editorial interpretation, not a statement from the production team. A trailer, cast and full staff list will be needed to judge how the idol story balances against the romantic comedy.
