Birds Watching: Italian indie horror Studio Ortica passes 12,000 Steam sales

Italy’s indie scene keeps producing games that travel well beyond the local market. Birds Watching from Turin-based Studio Ortica is a psychological horror game built around birdwatching. It launched on Steam on March 6, 2026 and later reached PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The studio has since announced that the game passed 12,000 copies sold on Steam.

The last human in the Italian Alps

A global fire destroyed the world. You are the last human alive, surviving on a mountain and spending your days observing and cataloguing birds. The peaceful routine gradually turns into psychological horror, combining exploration, choices, secrets and multiple endings in a focused experience of roughly one hour.

From PC to consoles

Birds Watching reached PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on August 20, 2026 with Dark Product as publishing partner. Studio Ortica was founded in 2025 by former AA developers and focuses on short narrative horror games. Its catalogue also includes Loan Shark and The Old Flesh of Nuraga.
