Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Anime Moves to 2028 — Staff and Cast

Crunchyroll has updated the release window for the anime based on Ghost of Tsushima's multiplayer Legends mode: the series will arrive in 2028. The announcement made at New York Comic Con on October 9, 2026 adds two cast members and completes more of the production picture.

From 2027 to 2028: the schedule changes

The project was first announced in January 2025 for a 2027 debut. The new statement instead specifies 2028: this is a revised release window, not a separate series. Neither a premiere month nor an episode count has been announced.

A first video was screened for attendees at the New York panel, but the footage has not been released online. There is therefore no public trailer yet and no more precise premiere date.

Animation studio, director and screenplay

Takanobu Mizuno directs the series at Kamikaze Douga. HAYATE produces alongside Aniplex and PlayStation Productions, while Sony Music is responsible for the music and soundtrack. Gen Urobuchi oversees story composition and co-writes the screenplay with Renji Oki.

Two new voice actors, roles still secret

Mayumi Saco and Shinya Fukumatsu have officially joined the voice cast. Their characters have not been revealed. Any attempt to associate their voices with the four Legends classes would therefore be speculation.

Character identities and voice actors have not yet been officially matched.

The series draws on the Legends multiplayer experience.

Exclusive streaming on Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll will distribute the series exclusively in 2028. Its statement does not yet specify territories, weekly episode schedules, subtitles or European dubbing. The platform is confirmed, but details for Italy and German-speaking audiences remain to be announced.

Legends gives this adaptation a more supernatural, ensemble-based world than the main game campaign. Until an extended synopsis and public trailer arrive, official information and interpretations should remain distinct.

What is still missing

• Exact release date and episode count

• Complete cast roles
