Girls Band Cry THE MOVIE opens May 21, 2027 with teaser and nationwide tour
Togenashi Togeari's rock is returning to cinemas in a completely new story. On November 3, 2026, Toei Animation announced that Girls Band Cry THE MOVIE will open in Japan on May 21, 2027, revealing the first teaser and a visual drawn by nari Teshima.

A new film, not another recap
Following the 2024 television series and the 2025 compilation films, this project genuinely moves the story forward. Nina Iseri, Momoka Kawaragi, Subaru Awa, Tomo Ebizuka and Rupa continue playing as Togenashi Togeari after choosing independence—an unstable position, but one that fits their idea of music more honestly.

The teaser points toward fifty shows
The film begins with a tour arranged before the band left its agency. Rather than sticking to the existing dates, Nina keeps adding bookings until the schedule grows to fifty stops across Japan. The teaser cuts between van travel, arguments, rehearsals and live performances: conflict remains the engine of the story, not a convenient obstacle to clear.

Confirmed staff and cast
Kazuo Sakai returns as director, with Jukki Hanada writing the screenplay and nari Teshima handling character design. Jae-hoon Jeong and Daiki Nakazawa are the CG directors; Kenji Tamai leads music production and Yusuke Tanaka composes the score. The work originates at Toei Animation, while Toei distributes the film in Japan.
Rina voices Nina Iseri, with Yuri returning as Momoka Kawaragi.
Mirei, Natsu and Shuri return as Subaru, Tomo and Rupa respectively.
Reina Kondo, Misato Matsuoka, Yuki Urushiyama and Momoko Miyashiro complete the announced cast as Hina, Nana, Rin and Ai.

Release window and availability
The confirmed date applies to Japan: Friday, May 21, 2027. The announcement did not name an international theatrical distributor or a streaming platform, so release windows for North America, Europe and other regions remain unconfirmed.
The first Japanese advance-ticket sale begins November 6, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. JST. The MovieTicket costs ¥1,900 and includes a mini acrylic stand based on the teaser visual while supplies last. It is a sales detail, but it also confirms that the theatrical campaign is already moving into its operational phase.

Why this signal matters
Girls Band Cry built its following on the friction between 3D animation, credible performances and characters who refuse to make themselves agreeable. A fifty-date tour pushes that formula beyond Kawasaki's comfort zone: every stop can become a new test for the band and for the relationship between Nina and Momoka.
