On August 25, 2026, Once Human makes its real jump to consoles. Starry Studio’s free-to-play survival game launches at 11:00 AM PT / 8:00 PM CEST on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S. This is not the game’s first release overall: it is the console debut, arriving alongside update 3.0.4 and a major expansion of first-person gameplay.

Platforms, launch time and requirements

The console client is free and does not require PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass Core. The official FAQ lists roughly 80 GB on PlayStation and 100 GB on Xbox, with partial downloads available. German is included among the console languages, while Italian was not listed at launch.

Full cross-play, but watch your accounts

PlayStation, Xbox, PC and mobile players can play together, but everyone must choose the same region and server. Console-exclusive servers cannot be accessed from PC or mobile. Account linking enables shared progression, but there is an important warning: if both accounts already contain characters, the process keeps the characters from only one account and discards the others. Unlinking also triggers a 30-day protection period.

First-person mode, HDR and graphics options

Version 3.0.4 expands first-person mode to underwater exploration, high-altitude gliding, Deviation abilities and melee combat. Players can still switch between first- and third-person views. NetEase also lists HDR, a Quality Mode targeting up to 4K at 60 fps and a Performance Mode targeting up to 120 fps, along with vibration, trigger resistance and haptic feedback. These are official specifications, not independent retail-build benchmarks.

35 trophies and Global Heat

The update adds 35 new achievements across Xbox, PlayStation, Steam and Google Play. Previously completed activities do not unlock them retroactively, so requirements must be completed again. The Global Heat event also begins across all platforms, awarding points and rewards including Starchrom and the Pyro Dino vehicle skin.

Official update screens also show controller tuning, keyboard-and-mouse support and button remapping — useful additions for a survival game built around aiming, inventory management and construction.

What is confirmed and what still needs testing

Confirmed details include platforms, launch time, the free-to-play model, cross-play, shared progression, approximate client sizes, expanded first-person mode, 35 achievements and Global Heat. Server stability, real-world performance in both graphics modes and overall console experience still need to be tested after launch.

Information was checked against the official update 3.0.4 notes, console FAQ, NetEase launch announcement and official trailer.

Bottom line

The console launch makes Once Human much more accessible, and the combination of cross-play, first-person gameplay and new achievements gives both newcomers and returning players concrete reasons to jump in. The real test now is practical: servers, frame rate and account handling will determine how successful the console transition really is.
